Non-Contact Radar

Non-contact radar is commonly used to continuously measure the level of powders, granules, solids or liquids in a vessel. The NCR-80 non-contact radar excels in powders and solids with a dielectric as low as 1.2. It measures in a very narrow 4° beam angle at distances up to 393 feet with precision of 0.2 inches. SmartWave is a very accurate, low-noise pulse radar transmitter for distances up to 100 feet. It is designed to allow for the tracking of any material from the tip of the rod antenna to the bottom of the tank, regardless of the tank shape or environmental conditions.

SmartBob is a proven, highly reliable and accurate inventory management system for monitoring powders and bulk solids for one or an entire network of bins, tanks and silos. The weight and cable-based rugged SmartBob2 sensor is for bins up to 180’ tall, while the SmartBob-TS1 is for bins up to 60’ tall. Mounted on the top of the bin, a weighted cable drops to the material surface to take a precise measurement and then sends measurement data to a console, eBob PC-based software or directly to a PLC. Options include models for high or super-high temperatures, measuring submersed solids, and wireless communications.

The BinMaster 3DLevelScanner provide continuous, non-contact level measurement using dust penetrating technology to provide unsurpassed bin volume accuracy. Unlike single point devices, it works by measuring multiple points within the bin. This advanced acoustics-based technology is proven to perform in powders and bulk solids contained in tanks, silos, domes, warehouses, open bins and piles. Its unique 3D mapping capabilities provide a visual representation of bin contents, detecting irregular material surfaces, cone up or down conditions, as well as sidewall buildup. It is self-cleaning, requires minimal maintenance and features a variety of extensions and configurations to allow it to be used in a wide range of challenging applications.

A laser level measurement sensor is used for level control, plugged chute detection, and monitoring buildup. It is a non-contact device that can be used in bulk solids, pellets, or granular materials of all material dielectrics in a variety of vessels. It may also be appropriate for measuring opaque liquids in applications where the beam must be precisely targeted to avoid walls or structure. The advantage of laser is it measures in a tight beam, making it suitable for use in very narrow vessels or constrained spaces. Laser can be pointed at an outlet to ensure timely replenishment of material or mounted near the sidewall to detect buildup.

BinMaster’s GWR-2000 guided microwave level transmitter provides continuous level measurement in vessels up to 100 feet tall with accuracy of ±  0.08 inches (2mm). This sensor features hazardous location approvals, a very small upper dead zone, and assures highly accurate level measurement in low dielectric materials down to 1.3. The BinMaster GWR-1000 level sensor measures powders, bulk solids and liquids in vessels up to 78’ tall. It provides highly accurate, continuous level measurement utilizing time domain reflectometry (TDR) to measure the distance, level and volume of material contained in bins, tanks and silos.

BinMaster’s SmartSonic ultrasonic sensor provides continuous, non-contact level measurement for bins, tanks, and silos or to detect material on conveyors. Its advanced, narrow-beam design helps eliminate false echoes, while a built-in sensor automatically compensates for temperature changes to ensure measurement accuracy. Simple, push-button calibration and self-cleaning operation ensure simple set up and minimal maintenance. It offers RS-485 communications allowing the sensor to interface directly with a PC for data monitoring. Alternatively, level measurement data can be sent to a display console. A sanitary model with extended temperatures tolerances and a stainless steel face enable use in vessels where food grade or sanitary standards apply.
